Literacy Lift Off is in full swing in Rang a hAon at this stage! This intensive reading initiative will give the children the opportunity to read new stories and work on different literacy-based activities at set times during the week over the course of six weeks. At Summercove, we have found this to be a very effective and enjoyable way to boost literacy. It incorporates movement, oral language, development of phonic awareness, reinforcement of high frequency words, improves reading fluency and drives awareness of genres for writing. The children work at different stations with different teachers throughout the afternoon and, as is evident in the pictures, it is a most joyful and productive way to spend our afternoons!
