We are delighted to announce the launch of our new STEM education programmes which are kindly sponsored by LSC,, Lilly, Johnson & Johnson, Summercove NS Parents’ Association, Perfect Reception and Ardbrack Financial.

Science, Technology, Engineering a Mathematics (STEM) are at the heart of a technological revolution which is transforming the way we live and the way we work.

In November 2017, the Department of Education published an ambitious STEM Education Policy to become the best STEM education and training service in Europe by 2016.

Matching this ambition, the management and Parents’ Association at Summercove NS are working to develop a fun and interactive approach to STEM education for our school.

This programme compliments the ‘Engineering in a Box’ initiative sponsored by Lilly.

Working with LEGO Education robotics, pupils will learn to adapt, build and program robots, developing their engineering, design, technology, computer science and mathematics skills while complementing the school curriculum.

Taking concepts learned in the classroom (distance, logic etc.,) pupils will work with motors and sensors, programming their robots to carryout different tasks, developing workflow skills and learning about logic, loops, switches, blocks and more!
