S.N. Chóbh Cionn tSáile had cause for huge celebration recently when the school raised it’s 3rd Green Flag and the Active School Flag. Senior Cork ladies footballer and past pupil Orla Finn was the guest of honour raising the Active Flag with County Mayor, Alan Coleman raising the Green Flag. Members of the Board of Management and Parents’ Association along with a broad cross-section of community representatives including GAA, rugby, hockey, table tennis, tidy towns, karate, Sáile, the Bulman Restaurant and many others joined the parents, staff and pupils to celebrate the occasion. The awards of these accolades are testament to the hard work of both the Active School Committee and Green School Committee and of course their co-ordinators Ms. Karen Howe, Ms. Sinéad Fitzgerald for the Active Flag and Mrs Brunicardi, Ms. Valerie Madden and Mr Darren Kiely for the Green Flag. Principal, Colette Ní Luasaigh said ‘Today is a wonderful day for our school. It is the culmination of two years of increased physical activity in our school and a combination of over six years of environmental work and it embodies the spirit of our school motto ‘Deánann Dícheall Gaisce’.” The ceremony concluded with music organised by the Deputy Principal Rose O’ Regan, Sinead O’ Flynn and all the pupils and staff. The pupils were all treated to ice cream to celebrate their...
