Science Week at S.N. Chóbh

We are delighted to be participating in Science Week here in S.N. Chóbh. We will post updates on ‘what’s happening’ in school. Some of the activities happening here: Scientist Carmel Wright, visited our school on Wednesday 13th & Thursday 14th November to carryout a science workshop with Junior Infants, Senior Infants, Rang a 1 & 2. This visit was sponsored by our Parents’ Association. Show Me Science workshops were held for Junior Infants to Second Class during Science Week to celebrate the occasion. Show Me Science is a local business run by Kinsale local, and past pupil Carmel Wright. Carmel is a scientist with a passion for teaching science in a simple, fun, and hands on way. Carmel gave this outline of her visit – This year the topic for the workshops was Newtons Laws of Motion. It began with a quick introduction to the rather grumpy scientist; Sir Issac Newton. Agri Aware Farm Visit – Sponsored by Kinsale Good Food Circle

We were delighted to welcome Pat from Agri Aware Farm to our school yesterday Wednesday, 13th November. We met lovely animals and were told all about their life on a farm. The visit was arranged and sponsored by the ‘Kids Kitchen Takeover – Kinsale Good Food Circle. Rang a 6 participated in a full day of food awareness by educating and inspiring the students through guest speakers talking about what gives them the flair and passion for what they do, with the hope it might ignite a flair and passion for food and a new understanding and respect for where their food comes from, how its prepared and the importance of the choices they make. Guests include Michelin Chef Ross Lewis, Martin Shanahan and many more. The Kids Takeover. The students then went to ‘Fishy Fishy’ restaurant to create a meal for their parents with Martin Shanahan in the evening.
