Past Pupils upgrade masks for use by hospital frontline workers.

SN Chóbh are very proud of their past pupil Shane Collins who has been involved in a huge undertaking along with fellow student Oisín Coyle at Kinsale Community School. They have been designing visors for healthcare workers in Cork hospitals along with our own local hospital and residential home in Kinsale. Since the end of March,a small team of staff and students have been making and supplying some 6,000 visors designed by the two students at the school using 27  3D printers. Recently they were approached to see if a device designed by the two boys could be used to improve face masks that had arrived in a consignment from China. Shane along with Oisín have been giving of their time and expertise during this Covid 19 crisis to design and alter this consignment of masks which did not meet the expectations for use by frontline hospital staff and have been upgraded thanks to the ingenuity of the two boys along with staff from the school. Stay at Home and Read a Book Challenge!

World Book Day 2020

The children go all out for World Book Day and dress up in style as their favourite book characters on Thursday 5th March. Buddy reading, shared reading, literacy power hours, book reviews were among the events on the calendar during the literacy drive in SN Chóbh for World Book Day reinforcing the ongoing literacy interventions happening in the school. The children enjoyed reading to and with their classmates, younger children teamed up with older classes sharing stories and talking about their characters and books. Reading is the way to grow!
